What is the media systematically excluding? Laura discusses with author Winona LaDuke, editor of Extra! magazine Jim Naureckas, and filmmaker Eugene Jarecki about how conventional corporate media organizations select what news to produce and promote, how that lets them control the flow of information in the modern day, and how to recenter the media on the wants of the people.
This forms part of the day's theme "Breaking Through The Media" where leading authors, documentary filmmakers, journalists, cartoonists, new media content producers and other creative advocates discuss tactics to reform our communications landscape, and open the airwaves and internet up to serious and compelling content.
Part of the four-day "Breaking Through Power" conference organized to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the publication of Unsafe at Any Speed. To celebrate this milestone, and to reflect and renew our civic spirit and resolve we are convening an unprecedented gathering of public interest organizers, advocates, experts, and concerned citizens for four days at historic Constitution Hall in Washington DC.
Register soon to attend.
